Three contemporary stone residences immersed in the landscape of Mani.

Set within the traditional settlement of Kotroni in Western Mani, just 500 meters from the sea, Kotroni Residences is a collection of three independent dwellings designed to engage in a quiet dialogue with the landscape.

The project draws inspiration from the raw beauty of the Mani peninsula, where stone, light and topography define the character of place. Conceived as a composition of simple geometric volumes, the residences reinterpret local architectural references through a contemporary lens, balancing permanence and simplicity with openness and comfort.

The buildings are carefully positioned to follow the natural terrain, creating protected outdoor spaces, framed views and a sense of privacy while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. Stone walls, planted courtyards and outdoor living areas blur the boundaries between architecture and nature, allowing everyday life to unfold seamlessly between interior and exterior spaces.

The material palette is intentionally restrained. Local stone, exposed concrete and natural textures create an architecture that feels rooted in its context, while generous openings capture the changing qualities of light throughout the day and establish visual connections with the distant sea.

Rather than imposing itself on the landscape, the project seeks to become part of it. Kotroni Residences is an exploration of contemporary Mediterranean living — a place where architecture, climate and nature coexist in balance, offering an experience defined by simplicity, authenticity and a profound sense of place.
